History
Geosystems, L.P. is a small, independent consultancy offering technical,
advisory, and managerial services in the specialty geotechnical aspects
of the civil, mining, and tunneling engineering. Geosystems,
L.P. was, until July 1, 2000 known as ECO Geosystems, which was formed
by its President, Dr. Bruce, in May 1996. It has worked on projects
throughout the United States, and also in Europe, South America, South
Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Geosystems L.P. is
also heavily involved in teaching
and technology transfer, via its links with various universities, and
professional trade organizations on the one hand, and innovative and
challenging projects on the other.
For the period May 1996 to June 2004, a review of the projects successfully
completed under
the personal management and direction of Dr. Bruce reveals the following
statistics:
- 150 projects of which the majority involved grouting, anchors, micropiles,
and deep mixing, with the minority dealing with diaphragm walls, soil
nailing and vibroflotation.
- Total engineering fees were over $6 million, with over
50% being in grouting related projects.
- One quarter of the projects were
for consultants, one quarter for contractors,
and another quarter for owners (including Government agencies). Expert
witness cases provided the other quarter.
- Although 5% of the projects have been over $100,000 in value, 70%
have been less than $10,000 in billing.
